  1. Personally I use the Lighthouse product range, although they are not as nice as the large mahogany custom-made cabinets which are available. Koffer coin cabinets take 10 trays and have a carry handle for moving them around. The trays are available with inserts to take virtually any size of coin or coin/circular capsule combination. Also available are square quadrum capsules & trays which look really nice and I use for gold coins. It certainly keeps the collection neat. I keep silica gel sachets in the cabinets (they are supplied with the Koffers) too to keep them as dry as possible.
  2. P.S. Even selling my much discussed 1925 halfcrown would hardly make a contribution to my outgoings tonight!
  3. Thanks for the heads up... but reading this forum is getting expensive!
  4. And your point is?
  5. Hi Azda, I don't think the 1000+ e-bay score is me, mine is only in the low hundreds. I've been collecting all sorts of things over many years, from cars through clocks to fruit machines and coins. So there's no discernible pattern, even to me! Interest has waned and returned but recent rises in gold prompted me to get my coins out again.
  6. As I say, I have no axe to grind here but likewise, I speak as I find from personal experience. If a willing seller sells to a dealer and then that dealer finds a willing buyer for the same coin then that's fair trade in my book. Seller, dealer and buyer are all happy. Grading is always subjective and anyone buying should form their own opinion, whether or not the dealer has suggested a grade or otherwise. I can't see why you would assume a money back offer is "hush money". Again, only my opinion.
  7. I appreciate I'm new here, although not to collecting, but couldn't help noticing a dealer (Martin Platt) getting a particularly hard time in an earlier post. I know nothing of him except that I recently purchased the following item: 1925 Halfcrown Dipped, quite probably, but I was more than happy. I really don't think I overpaid and the service was excellent. Just my twopence worth.
  8. I tried to add it as an image, hopefully this will work!
  9. Have been collecting/accumulating on and off for many years and only recently became interested in coins again. It's hardly my favourite piece, but always wondered about the history of this 1937 penny with swastika overstrike? Being 'wartime' related, I presume it's on topic?
