I apparently have a spare copy of Peck 2nd Ed, which due to restricted shelf-space I am looking to move on to a new home! Pictures to follow, but clean copy with no (that I've noticed!) annotations and intact dust jacket (this slightly tatty). Don't wind the lad up. From a very early age I was convinced I had an early unrecorded hammered groat (that my father dug up in his allotment).It was of course a jetton. Apologies - I was winding myself up more than anything! The kid's got a lovely varied set of coins there, and I hope that he will become (if he's not already!) as passionate about numismatics as the rest of us!

That DNW specimen is too worn to be conclusive - it could easily be BBITANNIAR, with wear or damage to the first B which is only half there anyway. I saw this one in hand... looked at it without really reading description, then checked again and nearly laughed! If they can call that an 'apparently unrecorded variety' than the blank copper disk in my hand is the 'previously unknown and definitely unrecorded' 1933 low tide penny with die numeral below date and 1/2d sized letters!

Ridiculously simple! Paypal has virtually no vendor protection! To the point where unless the onus is on the vendor to prove that its real or arrived in one piece/at all!

I don't think there's a court in the land that would accept that description as anything other than a representation of 'originality', even without a specific statement to the effect. And the metal content is an outright lie. Indeed - replace 'Silver' with pewter, and 'Tudor period' with 1960's (or later!) you get something approaching the truth! I acknowledge what Peter says about caveat emptor, however if that's a 14 year old kid who's saved his (or her!) pocket money for their first big spend, they'll soon abandon numismatics if they get stung like that!

Isn't that (theoretically) what PayPal is? Nah... thats just a third way that eBay can rape you for any scrap of profit you might be looking to make! I promise you - having PayPal has allowed me to buy lots of stuff online, not to mention make payments to private individuals, without involving eBay in any way shape or form. It is mega convenient, and afaik has not involved any charges whatever. Apologies - unfortunately, I tend to be a net vendor with Paypal, so get stung on listing fees (not too bad unless you want a reserve!), final value fee (going through the roof!) and then nearly 5% on paypal! I'll admit that it is massively convenient, but do believe that with fees approaching 20% for the vendor more sellers will become rather more hesitant about using!

It could be a mint-error, but the colour doesn't look right for a penny blank... If you dont mind waiting a little while, you could give the Royal Mint a call and ask them for an assessment... Pop it in the post to them, they'll have a look and send it back with a nice letter - this would amount to a certificate of authenticity! They can take a month or so, but could be worth it!

Random... Thats got to be one of the most bizarre listings that I've ever seen!
