  1. I seem to spend half my life on it 😂 it’s incredible
  2. Thanks Jerry, I missed the Yorkshire coin fair today as had other plans 😔 but will get there next time. Taking reference material is a great idea. Lost out on what I thought was a beauty on EBay today because I wasn’t confident enough to push the price up😒. I’ve not really started with hammered but enjoyed a cup of tea with Andy Gillis recently and think I will go to him when that time comes. Guess I need to have more patience. Again, really appreciate your input. Best Dean
  3. Thanks for the advice Paddy, appreciate the quick response. I’ve picked a few things up from local auctions and did a lot of bulk buys at the start when I needed/wanted the dates etc. Not sure there would be much I could get from going through the boxes now but you never know and will continue to look ☺️. What’s the next step? Have picked up a few from Michael Gouby’s site who was also incredibly gracious with his advice. Lot’s more sites with crazy prices!!! Example: I have 3 1860s that I can easily identify, and I’m sure I’ve overpaid for, but my 1865 (and many more) looks like I’ve made it myself 😂. Any thoughts always appreciated.
  4. Hi, Not heard great things about EBay, any other sites/groups recommended for adding to my collection of bronze pennies? Mixed bag at the minute, a few nice and few curious and a few poor. Still new so would really appreciate any guidance ☺️. Thanks again in advance.
  5. Thanks so much. Richard’s site is fantastic but haven’t been able to find a copy of Gouby anywhere and not for the lack of trying!!! finally got a copy of Freeman coming so looking forward to getting stuck into that. Thanks again
  6. Hi, would someone be able to tell me what causes this misalignment of the 2 please? As far as I understand all the reverses are the same for that year. Many thanks in advance
  7. Thanks Jerry, will watch out for more.
  8. Under a bit more magnification it’s the 0 with a part missing I think.
  9. Hi, To my (very) untrained eye, these seem to be the same obverse with the exception, possibly, of the last T in Britt. Can anyone help? Again, many thanks for any help and happy to share better pictures if needed.
  10. Hi, Has anyone seen this version of the 1860 with a dot next to the one previously? Grateful for any information. Not sure if it's common for that year. Thanks in advance,
  11. Just noticed your email on your site so have sent over.
  12. Hi, send me your email and will send over today. Thanks Dean
  13. Hi all, Can anyone shed any light on what causes this? The I and T seem much larger, and I can't see any other examples, sure it's a common thing but would be keen to know what it is. Thanks in advance
  14. Hi (again) I picked up David Groom's book and it mentions a 1902 penny with a dot near Britannia's legs. I can't find any pictures, could this be it? Thanks again, appreciate all the advice.
  15. Thanks for that, will look into it
  16. Hi, Picked this 1902 up today with an unusual (angular) 9, I've been looking through the posts and other sources for similar examples and can't find any, guessing it might be a common occurrence, can anyone advise? Thanks again
  17. Thanks Rob
  18. Hi, Sure this is common, but don't have it on any of my other pennies (that I can see). Slightly raised lines are they die polishing lines? Any information very welcome as always.
  19. I've had a chance to take another look under a microscope today and I think Martin is right, they aren't as prominent as the colon dots now so I think they may be corrosion.
  20. Hi, Thanks for the help so far, I have another question about a 1892 Penny. Part of the top of the T in Victoria seems to be missing. Is it something to do with the dies? Is it quite common to find it? There doesn't seem to be any surrounding damage.
