Thanks so much. Richard’s site is fantastic but haven’t been able to find a copy of Gouby anywhere and not for the lack of trying!!! finally got a copy of Freeman coming so looking forward to getting stuck into that.
Thanks again
Hi, would someone be able to tell me what causes this misalignment of the 2 please? As far as I understand all the reverses are the same for that year.
Many thanks in advance
Hi,
To my (very) untrained eye, these seem to be the same obverse with the exception, possibly, of the last T in Britt. Can anyone help?
Again, many thanks for any help and happy to share better pictures if needed.
Hi,
Has anyone seen this version of the 1860 with a dot next to the one previously? Grateful for any information. Not sure if it's common for that year.
Thanks in advance,
Hi all,
Can anyone shed any light on what causes this? The I and T seem much larger, and I can't see any other examples, sure it's a common thing but would be keen to know what it is.
Thanks in advance
Hi (again)
I picked up David Groom's book and it mentions a 1902 penny with a dot near Britannia's legs. I can't find any pictures, could this be it?
Thanks again, appreciate all the advice.
Hi,
Picked this 1902 up today with an unusual (angular) 9, I've been looking through the posts and other sources for similar examples and can't find any, guessing it might be a common occurrence, can anyone advise?
Thanks again
Hi,
Sure this is common, but don't have it on any of my other pennies (that I can see). Slightly raised lines are they die polishing lines?
Any information very welcome as always.
I've had a chance to take another look under a microscope today and I think Martin is right, they aren't as prominent as the colon dots now so I think they may be corrosion.
Hi,
Thanks for the help so far, I have another question about a 1892 Penny. Part of the top of the T in Victoria seems to be missing. Is it something to do with the dies? Is it quite common to find it? There doesn't seem to be any surrounding damage.
Thanks again Martin, I tried that and it is now a slightly darker colon to the other colon dots so you may well be right, still seems to be slightly raised.
Appreciate your note.
