  1. Man would i love to be detecting in your country, just looking at the English detecting forums and seeing those ancient coins has me drooling. Imagine digging up some Viking or Roman artifects, all i can say is,you guys sure are lucky. I'm surprised that you do not have a detector, for your hobby it would be the ideal partner. Raoul
  2. Found these while metal detecting, they are so badly worn that i can't make out the date or the bloke. Thanks for any help. Raoul
  3. Hi everyone, wow what a job, spent the last day & half just sorting, dating,and bagging Aus pennies and English coins still have half penny's and all silver coins to go, had to go and buy another 400 bags to cover the remaining lot. Well here's my English collection, 1 Farthing 1918 in all the years i have been detecting thats the only one. Halfpenny's 1861 1881 1888 1889 1899 1900 1901 1902 1903 1905 1906 1907 1908 1909 19101912 Penny's 1885 1863 18651872 1876 18791885 1886 1888 1889 1891 1893 1895 1896 1902 1905 1908 1910 1915 1918 1922 1928 1935 1936 19611964 1965 1967 3 pence 1879 1885 1891 1894 1896 6pence 1816 1857 1899 1 shilling 1872 1881 1873 1896 1899 2 shillings 1895 1929 1966 Thanks for your patience, here's a photo of my best old silver coins, remember here in Australia we are still a young country so we are lucky if we find some coins in the 1700's or older. I have found 3 coins 2 copper and 1 silver which are so worn that i can't put a date on them,they are larger then the pennies,i guess could be crowns will post a photo on the other forum ,thanks again Raoul
  4. I will go and sort out the English coins and post the dates on here if its ok with Chris.
  5. I think latin has no use these days, if a language is taught to our kids it should be one that will help them, like Japanese, they are all over the world these days and knowing the language will help us in business and trade. Raoul
  6. Hi guys, thanks for the reply's. Mint-mark your comments have been very helpful, thanks, William i would have hundreds have never actually counted them ,but over 15 year of metal detecting you can imagine that there is heaps. One of these days i should get the coin book out and see if i have any of value apart rtom my 1932 florin which i know is worth big bucks. I have also quite a few of Queen Vic in the 1800's but havn't a book on English coins i suppose i could find any information on the web if need be. Regards Raoul
