  1. Just checked up on the lyrics and guess what for the last forty years I thought chicks were chips .

WHAT A PLONKER as del boy whould have said.

"That ain't workin', that's the way you do it
Get your money for nothin', get your chicks for free
We got to install microwave ovens, custom kitchen deliveries
We got to move these refrigerators, we gotta move these color TVs"

Mind you "We will rock you does also sound like freddie is kicking a cat all over the place" not a can" worthy of a west ham player

And that devil has a sideboard in bohemian rhapsody as well

Yes,  at least with the solid blocks of steel the Royal Mint historically used as dies, and to the degree shown on your coin. As to why, we shall never know without evidence. But people certainly do strange things to coins, for fun, as test- pieces, to re-purpose, to defraud , as art-work and as puzzles and many others.

And the need to restore a coin bent or damaged due to agricultural activity often presents,  in practice many detector found coins benefit from careful conservation to be acceptable to collectors.

Few coins found with a detector are worth much more than scrap value - a few hoards over the year are always mind blowingly brilliant - but most single coins are in pretty dire straights

  3. Former world darts champion Ted Hankey has been jailed for two years for a sexual assault caught on camera.

Hankey, 54, from Berry Hill, Stoke-on-Trent, pinned down the young woman and, with an "air of entitlement", sexually assaulted her, Chester Crown Court heard.

He pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to the attack on 10 September in Crewe.

The darts player, nicknamed The Count, was the BDO world champion in 2000 and 2009.

The court was previously told the victim was aged between 16 and 18.

Hankey, a father-of-three, who had shown "more self-pity than remorse", dabbed away tears with a tissue as he was sentenced.

My first list from FS was just after John Minshull had got this fancy new typewriter with all the new fonts. Pre-computer it was cutting edge. It was a bound A4 light blue catalogue. The ones after that were just stapled I think and were always different colours, light green, orange etc. Always an exciting moment when his latest one popped through the door! They were all chucked out after I went to University but the dates were ~1977-1983. I wish I 'd kept some for memory's sake.

He really went to town on the rarities,  I remember a 1685 Charles II tin farthing got about a page of write-up.

You should have seen the write -up when he got hold of an oliver cromwell farthing

  5. Shame they got chucked out they seem in demand now.

I would hazard a guess that he got out one every three months or so , annoyingly they are not dated spring- summer -autumn- winter and the year would have been a great way to start off every list , though you can work out aprox when they were produced by little clues in the text , I had number 47 which seemed to date 1977 spring I would guess with the jubilee references in it

......I've really lost it this time.

I realised that I'd had vehicles from the 1960's onwards,  but never one from the '80's,  so that's sorted.

I last drove a Renault 4 when I drove the Open University one back from Lisbon in 1986,

with a large geologist and a pile of rocks, and I couldn't believe how simple and capable this little car was.....

I was a fan of Minis at the time, but the 4 was an eye-opener.

Stranger things happen - remember there is a trabant car fan club

I'm still scratching my head where the $10k plus comes from on their price. Do they do a roulette wheel with various numbers on and give it a whirl? Genuinely @AtlasNumismatics enlighten me how you come by your ticket price....Surely the cleaning, imaging and slabbing doesn't cost that much, maybe 100-150 dollars?

Meet the new estate agents - spivy coin dealers.

Think of a price double it add whatever for slabbing and distribution tax

Yes, this type of business model is IMO destroying at least some of the market for GB coins, resulted in great profits and chasing true collectors out of the market in droves. Understandable is a slow(er) upward drive in prices but pump and dump methods with log value raise in "value" of coins reflects naked greed that we see now so often in the market.

BTW, I believe the blue color has been imparted to the surface by application of the product "MS 70" which when incompletely washed seems to do this to coin surfaces. I have seen some absolute rubbish about the solvent(s) in it removing overlying toning and revealing supposedly true colors beneath the toning. That IMHO is an absolute load of BS.

Coins start of blue and turn brown/chocolate colour what BS
