colliewalker1 Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 Decent Edward VII Half Crowns are very hard to find and are expensive. This example looks pretty good and the 'Buy It Now'price looks reasonable at £25:the detail on the reverse side is all there - but it doesn't look very sharp. Is this one of those cases where perhaps the scan/photo isn't quite doing the coin justice through lack of contrast in the image?http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...bayphotohosting Quote
Chris Perkins Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 That's ok I suppose, the tone isn't that pretty. I probably wouldn't go so high as GVF, maybe NVF/AVF.Edward VII Halfcrowns in my opinion are not difficult for 1910 or 1902. Quote

The low relief obverse of the Edward VII means that even these are often hard to find in a decent condition. I'd put this one at Fine. The reverse is better, although the letter I in "honi" has gone as usual with this reverse when its seen a lot of circulation. It's always a plus if the whole of the garter motto is visible.Personally I think the price is too high for a 1910; I've seen plenty as good as this for less.G Quote
Master Jmd Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 The obverse looks more like Fine if you ask me...too worn to be in a collection in my opinion... Quote
Emperor Oli Posted October 8, 2004 Posted October 8, 2004 I'd call it fine, and I agree with Geoff that it's too expensive. As Chris says too, the toning is really quite ugly. Wait for a nicer specimen to come along, it will enhance your collection better than the eBay piece. Quote
