could any one help with a approx valuation on a 1914 half gold sovereign george v this was given to me as a present and i am very curious

It's most likely to be worth it's gold bullion value (£26) unless it's in perfect as new condition.

i forgot to add that it is in the best condition you could ever hope for just like it has just been made.

With respect Julia, I hear words similar to that quite often from novice coin collectors and inquizitive people, and most of the time they are wrong and simply don't have the experience with that particular coin to be able to detect wear on it.

Are you able to scan it, register here and then post a picture?

If the condition is as you say it is, then it will be worth a lot more than £26, but i dont have a coin valuation book at the moment so i can't tell you how much it is worth...

EDIT: Damn, Chris got here one minute before me!!

Steady on old chap, it probably won't be worth much more than £50 even if it truly is in mint condition. I hate getting peoples hopes up.

I think £50 is a bit high even for the best ones.
