colliewalker1 Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 I have just bought some Lindner coin capsules from a website where they can be ordered in any quantity from one upwards.Packs of 10 or more would not be suitable for me at the moment, as I have a small collection of several different sizes otherwise I would have bought them from Chris.I have a strange problem - Half crowns are reckoned to be 32mm in diameter - but they will not fit into 32mm capsules - I would guess they are about 1mm too large. Can anyone explain this for me please? Quote
Chris Perkins Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 They're very snug (especially the newer halfcrowns) in my Lighthouse 32mm capsules, but they fit.I always go the extra mile for my customers colliewalker, I'm sure I could have sorted something out for you. I can get the SAFE caps individually (although more expensive than the lighthouse 10's), I just chose not to offer them that way....Perhaps I should. Quote
colliewalker1 Posted September 24, 2004 Author Posted September 24, 2004 I wonder if there might be quite a lot of people like me who would like to buy coin capsules singly rather than in packs. I can see that no seller would wish to be involved in tiny orders - perhaps an answer would be to offer a minimum £10 package of seleted mixed sizes?Do you think that would be a viable proposition for you Chris? Half Penny Jon Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 I've just ordered 60x26mm capsules from Chris, I hope that my halfpennies fit in them! Btw Chris, have you got my package yet? Quote
Emperor Oli Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 I wanted to buy them in singles for my shilling, but I thought I could only buy in lots of 10! Quote
Chris Perkins Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 Oli: I can get them on their own, but they are the expensive SAFE type, and work out about 50p each. I think it makes sense to have 10 for £3.00, and if you want to spend £10.00 you can get 3 lots of 10. I think perhaps the ecomics and the time involved in sending out capsules will stop me from doing that on the website....But if you fellows of Predecimal want singles, from now on it will be so.HPJ: Yes, got your package, still having trouble getting the 26mm capsules from Lighthouse. By the way, did you notice the certificate refers to a 2001 coin, whereas the coin is a 2000? If I have no caps by Tues I'll send the 2 coins and the last 10 caps I have. Quote
Half Penny Jon Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 By the way, did you notice the certificate refers to a 2001 coin, whereas the coin is a 2000? Yes I did notice that, my dad got it whilst on a business trip to South Africa. He told me that they had run out of '2000' certificates, so they had to use a '2001' certificate. Quote
Chris Perkins Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 A likely story Well it doesn't bother me, it was bought as bullion. Quote
colliewalker1 Posted September 24, 2004 Author Posted September 24, 2004 They're very snug (especially the newer halfcrowns) in my Lighthouse 32mm capsules, but they fit. A thought has occurred to me about this matching of coins and capsules - if both are,say,32mm,doesn't this mean that the fit is so accurate that it is TOO tight[perhaps this explains my problem with the Lindner capsules] shouldn't there be a tolerance of perhaps 0.5mm? Or - rather than the Lighthouse capsule being precisely 32mm is it a MATCH for that size coin with just enough clearance. Quote
Sylvester Posted September 24, 2004 Posted September 24, 2004 Have you got my 10p capsules in yet?I haven't posted the 5 pounder off yet... prob next week, i haven't had the time yet. Quote
