Where to buy old 50p coins and torn notes?

Hello,

Where could I buy some of the old, big 50p coins (about 5 or 6)? I've tried ebay and searched elsewhere on the web.

Also, where could I get torn (i.e. unusable) notes? Do banks keep ones that people exchange and if so, do they sell them?

I think you'll have to keep trying ebay, I have seen them there, but usually uncirculated examples, so expect to pay 2-3 GBP each.

Banks destroy old notes because any that were made useable would affect the economy (in a small way!). The old notes that are tatty and destoyed are replaced by new ones i believe.

Some coin shops do have a box full of junk coins, and i once came across a whole load of em, all for about 5p each.

A good place is the foreign Ebay sights, people are always offering Lots of UK coins that they suddenly find after clearing out. Mostly left over from some forgotten hioliday. Beware of postage though!

Hi I have some Isle of Man 50p coins to sell. Mostly Christmas.

I also have two of the plastic Isle of Man £1 notes too.
