Chris Perkins Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 Within 12 months there should be a new edition of Collectors' Banknotes. If you have the latest edition, what would you change in the next (2005/2006?) edition? Quote
Peter Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 The Duggleby reference with the RB reference (where possible)....rather than a look up at the back.(I know it is competion)!!!It is very difficult (or I find it difficult) to quickly identify notes and as much information as possible in one place would assist.I've noticed obvious Ebay dealers making identification errors....What about spiral bound and sorted in denominations or is that all a bit too radical.Keep it portable for coin note fairs though!!!! Chris Perkins Posted March 16, 2005 Author Posted March 16, 2005 It'll be sorted by denomination, they always have been. Treasury notes first, then early BofE, then post 1925 BofE by denomination. Quote
Peter Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 apolologies I was thinking how Duggleby sets out his numbering system.I prefer Rotographic....good price too. Quote
Chris Perkins Posted September 6, 2005 Author Posted September 6, 2005 The book is done and I have some from the printers! Great quality, it's even worth buying one just to own a beautiful thing...Even if you're not interested in banknotes! Quote
Guest Aidan Work Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Is the book only listing Bank of England & Treasury banknotes,or does it list banknotes issued by the private banks such as the Bewdley Bank?Aidan. Quote
Chris Perkins Posted September 16, 2006 Author Posted September 16, 2006 Only BofE and treasury. Quote
Guest Aidan Work Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Chris,I am a very strong believer in arranging the Bank of England issues in order by signatory, then by issue, then denomination. That is how the Pick & Pick Specialised catalogues do their listings.Unlike Pick, there should be listings of what the replacement prefixes are,& Specimen banknotes as well.Of course, there has to be some instructions on how to distinguish between the genuine notes & the very interesting Operation Bernhard forgeries.I hope that you will be listing the Dardanelles issues in the Treasury banknotes section. The Treasury notes are the few notes that can be truly regarded as being British,as opposed to English (which the Bank of England notes are),Scots,or Ulster Quote
Chris Perkins Posted September 18, 2006 Author Posted September 18, 2006 They're listed by denomination, as most people will find that easier on the brain, even if it isn't strictly right. Replacement prefixes are in, so are Specimens. There are instructions on Op Bernhard. And the Dardanelles notes are listed too (I even had one to provide the picture). You clearly don't have a copy Aidan. Quote
Guest Aidan Work Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 Chris, you're right.I don't have a copy.I am a bit out of touch as far as English banknotes go.I've been concentrating on British Africa for a bit too long. Please let me know when the book is out,& its price,as I am more than interested in getting a copy.Aidan.
