Chris Perkins Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Thanks for the test Chris. Unfortunately it seems as though I'm best sticking with my relatively cheap Canon digital camera, using the macro setting. The resolution is easily good enough for overdates etc. My website photos have been taken with this setup.Yup. You know what, on this occasion I'm the worst advertisement for the products I sell on my website. I actually sent it back. It's all very well but it simply doesn't offer a massive advantage over a decent camera, at least not on coins especially when you have to rub it all over them. Perhaps it's excellent for stamps, banknotes and other collectables. Quote
Geordie582 Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 (edited) Linder also produce this...MicroscopeI use it for all my coins, you can see results on my Omnicoin link, though the rig you see was made necessary for larger, crown sized, coins.Useful for detail too, like this segment of a hammered farthing.farthing segment Edited February 26, 2012 by Geordie582 Quote
Chris Perkins Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 And what's the product number of that? I'll test it too! Quote
Geordie582 Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 (edited) The item is styled "USB Digital-Microscope" and 'artikel-Nr,: 7155. I've had it for a while now. It has an inbuilt camera facility which attracted me as copying screen shots never work well for me. Hope it still is available!! The handbook is dated Nov 09 Edited February 27, 2012 by Geordie582 Quote
Geordie582 Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Just a tip if you're trying it out. Take the lens cover off first - not as crazy as it sounds as it took me a week before I realised that the transparent cover came off!!! It makes a big difference to the picture. Quote
