What is the value of this coin:

1995 BU full lustre 2Fr. (unsure country), possibly swiss(?)):

Obverse: 22 stars go around a woman holding a spear in one hand and a shield with a + (cross) iside it, HELVETIA written below.

Reverse: a wreath of leaves circle 2 Fr. 1995, below the wreath is a small E, possibly mintmark (?).

It is Switzerland, the mintmark is a B for Bern, and according to Krause, there should be 23 stars. Catalog value for UNC=US$2.00, BU=US$3.00. As I stated in an earlier post, unless you find someone who is a specialist in this country, then it is doubtful you will get anywhere near the BU catalog value for the coin.

The "woman holding a spear" is, as I think was remarked a while ago, their Britannia. Like we used Britannia to symbolise Britain on circulation coins, they use her - Helvetia I think is her name or that might be Switzerland.

Or perhaps Switzerlandia! (No, it's Helvetia, or I seem to remember an alternate spelling of 'Helvetica').

I was thinking Helvetica but then it occurred to me that I may be getting mixed up with the font!

Ah yes "Switzerland is also known as Confoederatio Helvetica"

A partially filled die?? The only option is the B, so if yours is an E, then it is an error of some sort. Probably a filled die or a strike thru error. Don't know if there is much demand for them, so I doubt there would be much of a premium for it. But it may warrant further research.
