Guest londoncoin Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Evening everyone,I'm a novice to coin collecting and recently purchased the three short cross pennies pictured in the attched file.I'm having trouble identifying them and wondered if any of the experts on this forum could help please? The far left coin seems to be minted by the moneyer coldwin or 'Goldwin' which I think indicates the Canterbury mint but I'm unsure whether or not it's a Richard or John coin? There is some text on the middle coin which I'm unable to translate with my novice eye, although the portrait is much clearer. As for the far right coin, I'm guessing there is little hope of identification? Can anyone ched any light on any of the coins please? Thanks in advance for any help. 1949threepence Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I wish I couold help you, but I know absolutely nothing about hammered coins. Hopefully someone else on here can, although I note it's a few days now, since you posted. Quote
Rob Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 The images are a bit small. You need straight on clear pictures with this series because portrait and letter features determine the type and hence the reign. Quote
