Master Jmd Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 (edited) Do you think that you will own an Edward VIII penny when you are older JMD?Sincerely doubt it, but if one ever comes up (such as the one that mark rasmussen sold) then i will probably try my very best to buy it...(not to be a bit greedy, but I now want ALL pennies from 1902 - 1970 proof including 1933, 1937 Edward, 1952 and 1954...it might be a little tricky though ) Edited June 16, 2004 by Master Jmd
Half Penny Jon Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 Are you still going to buy the 1803 BU penny that Colin Cooke is selling or are you going to make your job a whole lot easier and concentrate on an easier date range?

Half Penny Jon Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 You could buy a fair amount of later pennies for your new date range...............
Master Jmd Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 You could buy a fair amount of later pennies for your new date range............... yes, but that is what i am trying to do atm, but there isnt really much to buy at the moment...do you know of any other 'Major' coin sites such as predecimal.com or colincooke.com?
Emperor Oli Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 Wow Chris will be happy his site is "major"!!Wybrit's site is excellent, he has a wide range and I've been browsing it for months now although he hasn't had the stuff I want! Online coins has quite a few good ones too.

Online coins has quite a few good ones too. I can vouch for Wybrit, also. I have had several very pleasant transactions with him over the last couple years, and I have found his site very helpful and useful to me. I have it bookmarked, along with this one, and check by regularly. Right now, my budget has severely limited my purchases recently, but I hope to pick up a few new items here in the next few weeks. I will be looking at all 3 sites listed in this thread (Chris, Wybrit and Colin Cooke), and deciding which holes to fill first.
Sylvester Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 You could buy a fair amount of later pennies for your new date range............... yes, but that is what i am trying to do atm, but there isnt really much to buy at the moment...do you know of any other 'Major' coin sites such as predecimal.com or colincooke.com? read your PM... (If you haven't already)I know one coin dealer i've dealt with for many many years his prices are reasonable and he specialises in high grade coins of the late milled period. It's very rare he sells much below EF. (Only the rarer stuff) and even that is usually BU.
Master Jmd Posted June 19, 2004 Posted June 19, 2004 A tip:1) is there much point in having '1955 (noted 2000) "500x BU", or '1955 (noted 1999) "Buy / The Bag" Colin Cooke offered 2500 1955's "little beauties"...it doesn't really need to be there!
Master Jmd Posted June 25, 2004 Posted June 25, 2004 There are too many spaces within the mintage of the 1945 farthing
Master Jmd Posted June 26, 2004 Posted June 26, 2004 Today's spotted mistakes:Under the picture of the 1954 Farthing it says; 'Elizabeth II1954 Farthing'...there should be a space between II and 1954 1871 Halpenny mintage is '1,075,280?'...is the '?' meant to be there?1911 Halfpenny says 'Obv. 1a' and then 'Obverse 1b'...shouldn't it stay as either Obv. or Obverse for both coin types? The halfpenny reference is 'FREE'...shouldn't it be Fman?1861 FMAN No. 33 Penny says '6 0ver 8'...it should be O, not zero 1843 Three halfpence says; '43over34'..there should be spaces between 3-o and r-3 ...Also, can you post a download for pages 25 - 30 yet?
Emperor Oli Posted June 26, 2004 Posted June 26, 2004 The "?" is most probably because nobody knows the exact mintage, pretty straightforward
Master Jmd Posted June 26, 2004 Posted June 26, 2004 The "?" is most probably because nobody knows the exact mintage, pretty straightforward yes, but it still might be a typo!
Emperor Oli Posted June 26, 2004 Posted June 26, 2004 It's doubtful that Chris would have pressed shift and the slash button at the same time.
Master Jmd Posted June 26, 2004 Posted June 26, 2004 It's doubtful that Chris would have pressed shift and the slash button at the same time. German keyboard?
wybrit Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 One minor correction:Page 20: "Tbe Bronze Coinage of Great Britain" : change Tbe to The.
Chris Perkins Posted July 1, 2004 Author Posted July 1, 2004 Thanks up to now, I should be releasing another update soon with corrections made, Freeman numbers and a couple of extra pages.
Coppers Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 When I download the pdf document using http://www.rotographic.co.uk/1-25.pdf, I get the plate photos only and no accompanying text. Would anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Chris Perkins Posted July 2, 2004 Author Posted July 2, 2004 I don't know, have you got the latest version of the PDF viewer?
Sylvester Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 I don't know, have you got the latest version of the PDF viewer? looking good!(I haven't been able to read it at home cos my computer crashes when it has anything to do with acrobat... dunno why, i think the dial up freezes), so i've been looking at it from Uni, not bad at all!
Master Jmd Posted July 3, 2004 Posted July 3, 2004 Tips and corrections:1) Page 1 - 'Copper, Bronze, Silver, Nickel-Brass and Cupro-Nickel' - Would it be better to have 'Copper, Bronze, Nickel-Brass, Cupro-Nickel and Silver'?2) Page 4 - 1826 ND I for 1 - shouldnt it go F, VF, EF, Unc. like all other dates?3) Page 6-7 - The FMAN numbers are after the mintage...(1000th post )
Sylvester Posted July 3, 2004 Posted July 3, 2004 Tips and corrections:1) Page 1 - 'Copper, Bronze, Silver, Nickel-Brass and Cupro-Nickel' - Would it be better to have 'Copper, Bronze, Nickel-Brass, Cupro-Nickel and Silver'? Erm i think Chris has them listed in the order the metals make their appearance.I haven't got a clue why you've arranged them like you have JMD... Why have them like that, if you wanted to change them why not put them in alphabetical order, or even reverse alphabetical order if you want to get adventurous...But if Chris reverse the format next year then the silver would be first and the bronze last.
Master Jmd Posted July 3, 2004 Posted July 3, 2004 i thought that it would work better in metal imortance...
Sylvester Posted July 3, 2004 Posted July 3, 2004 i thought that it would work better in metal imortance... Well then yours makes even less sense cos nowhere is cupro-nickel anywhere near as important as silver (or not as the case may be, cos i'm not sure which way round you've put them). I'd say copper was better than bronze, and copper/silver better than bronze, cupro-nickel and nickel-brass put together. I'm a purist, i like my metals pure, the purer the better. It's all very subjective that way though cos i would list them like this; most important to least (interpret expensive to cheapest, in general terms, high grade nickel-brass coins tend to cost slightly more than cupro-nickel ones, only cos some of those threepences are scarce though)...Silver, Copper, Bronze, Nickel-Brass & Cupro-nickel.
