Chris Perkins Posted May 31, 2004 Posted May 31, 2004 That's Great stuff 'dead king'. Super coins.I was born near Eltham and lived there a few years. We used to hang around the Castle there, and walk past it on the way to the pub. Quote
Chris Perkins Posted May 31, 2004 Posted May 31, 2004 No, not really, I merely skimmed and recognised a place name I have a little collection of George III fakes. Nothing special though, you can see some of them on the website in the area where I wrote about them. Quote
GDJMSP Posted May 31, 2004 Posted May 31, 2004 I swear Aethelred - it makes me envious every time I look at that. And I don't even like British coinage Quote

wybrit Posted June 1, 2004 Posted June 1, 2004 I collect "modern" mostly minor coinage 1838-1970. No Euros, thanks. Quote
GDJMSP Posted June 1, 2004 Posted June 1, 2004 Never did get around to what I collect now did I ? Well - British wise it's the issues from the early 19th century and before that spark the most interest. But I do have this thing for original Proof sets and original maundy sets. For the most part though I'm not primarily a collector of British coinage. For some reason I have always been attracted to coinage from across the channel - and the pond Quote
Sylvester Posted June 1, 2004 Posted June 1, 2004 Yes but i'm sure you could very easily cover the non-British coin area, i mean what you don't know about Ducats, probably isn't worth knowing.Did you ever persuade the guy at Coinpeople that their Transylvanian Ducat would be more loved in your collection? In Spink it is "extremely rare", if you do purchase it then you will be a very lucky numismatist indeed, I expect not many collectors have one. Is it abt.FDC-FDC or "PR60-70" Quote
Aethelred Posted June 1, 2004 Author Posted June 1, 2004 A private collector here in the states owns it. He has it off at a grading service right now and it should be back in about a month. I'll post photos if I get it! Quote
