Emperor Oli Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 I received a Gibraltan pound coin in my change today and was quite pleased with it but the I noticed the edge milling> It is not, as with normal pound coin, just lots of vertical lines, but lots of vertical lines separated by three solid pieces, with no milling. Is this a rarity or am I being silly? Quote
Chris Perkins Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Your being silly!I got one of those the other month, and it was exactly as you describe. Quote

Half Penny Jon Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 I have not seen one either. I have seen most of the other denominations from my change. I do like the designs on them. Quote
Emperor Oli Posted May 25, 2004 Author Posted May 25, 2004 Like our obverse except legend reads: GIBRALTAR ELIZABETH IIReverse has a three-towered castle with a key hanging from it and latin in a banner underneath. Quote
Half Penny Jon Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 Sound's nice. I'll keep my eyes open for any Gibraltarian £1's. Quote

Half Penny Jon Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 I have just bought the following half pennies. They will help me a lot in completing my date run! Half Penny 1Half Penny 2Half Penny 3What do you lot think? Quote
Master Jmd Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 What do you lot think? i think that £22 was a bit much for the 1924 one, the 1936 one was a good buy, and i think that the 1934 one was your best one bought...just my opinion though Quote
Half Penny Jon Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 I really need that 1934 one. It is rarer than people think you know. Quote
Half Penny Jon Posted May 25, 2004 Posted May 25, 2004 I don't know why the seller has such low 'buy it now prices'. I know that Chris bought a 1925OH BU half penny from him for a very low amount! Quote
Emperor Oli Posted May 25, 2004 Author Posted May 25, 2004 How to hijack a topicStep One:...... Hmmm I'm a bit skeptical about the 1924 one. That graze by George's moustache and the top of the shield on the reverse do not bode well for it.1936 - big mark on cheek prevents BU imhoThe 934 one is quite a beauty! Quote

Half Penny Jon Posted May 26, 2004 Posted May 26, 2004 I am very pleased that I bought them. They may not be perfect but they are in the grade that I am looking for. My faviorite will be the 1934 one for sure. I was very surprised to see one in such high grade, and at the right price! Quote
