1821 Farthing

Hi There

After looking through an bag of old coins that's been lying around for some years I've decided to take this up as a hobby. Have come across an 1821 GeorgeIIII farthing. Whilst new to the game I have obtained and browsed the 2009 Collectors Coins GB. The coin I have does not appear to be G over O but have noticed that the reverse is 'upside down' or up/down allignment as i believe it is called. Can anyone tell me if this is common and if the value is increased?

That is normal for the issue.

Prior to the 1816 recoinage, currency pieces normally had an inverted die axis (en-coin). From 1816 to 1887 you had a mixture, with some issues having an upright die axis (en-medaille). From 1887 onwards en-medaille was the norm.
