thedigger Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Hello all,New to the forum and my first post.I am not a collector (as yet) but....I have been given a large bag of "old" coins, mainly British coins but also some from worldwide. There are a lot of the normal "run of the mill" half penny / one penny including an error half penny. That error information was only brought to my attantion when on another internet site.Anyway back to the point of my post. Can someone please identify the coin pictured, and if known what type of metal would this be?Many thanks in advancecheers Quote
Chris Perkins Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 It's a crown and is sterling (.925) silver. Quote

thedigger Posted December 19, 2009 Author Posted December 19, 2009 Chris, sorry i forgot to ask, i know that the picture quality isnt really a lot to go on, but with your experience how would you grade this coin, im not looking for an exact grading as i would assume that its impossible to do so from a photo but just a guide?thank you Quote
scott Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 (edited) its in fine, reverse is acctually more VF then fine but obverse is fine. Edited December 19, 2009 by scott Quote
Chris Perkins Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Yes, around Fine is where it's at. Worth around £10. Quote
thedigger Posted December 20, 2009 Author Posted December 20, 2009 Many thanks to you both for your time and expertise:D cheers Quote
Peckris Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Many thanks to you both for your time and expertise:D cheersNo two people ever agree on grading - I'd describe the reverse as definitely Fine, with the obverse falling short of Fine. But I'd agree that the value is between £10 - £12. Quote
