Guest damian Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Hi all i have a 2008 english 10p and would like to know if it is fake or not as the sides are smooth and it has been printed off centre. The coin is silver but i tried to take photo's with my camera and they make it look gold. Any help would be appreciated.Many Thanks and kind regards Quote

Any help would be appreciated.Many Thanks and kind regardsWelcome to the forums damian The most likely explanation is that the coin was struck on a blank intended for another denomination (often in these cases, it's a foreign coin blank that's got into the wrong tub), and slipped through the inspection. As a curiosity it's certainly worth keeping. Quote

With the edges being smooth it caught my eye as i was about to pay for something in a shop so i kept it until i got home and placed it under a magnifying glass to see that it had been imprinted off centre. Then with all these 2p's from 1983 with new pence on and the 20p's without a date on i could start a 10p trend thats been printed wrong :P Quote
