Ali Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Hi everyone,After sorting through a number of 1992 10p's looking for the different varieties, I noticed that some had patches/bands where the sheen was not as good as the rest of the coin. Some take up large portionsof the surface area, and are completley straight. I would like to know if they are uncommon (probably not as I have three of them) or a mint error. I have noticed the same thing with some new 20p's I have come across. They could as well just be where the coin has been covered while the rest is exposed for sometime. They propably aren't worth anything, but it would be interesting to know if anyone can shed some light on it. Ali Quote

AliDo you have any pictures? It could be an issue with the mixing of alloys, a problem with the finish or just some type of damage or wear during circulation. You get all sorts of things happening especially whe they go through the washing machine. The soap powder can tone or damage coins.I pulled this one from circulation most likely been through a wash: Quote
