Terry Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Can any member give me any information on the 1973 EEC 50p ''PIEDFORT'' coin that was issued to VIP's please? Quote
Chris Perkins Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 It's much thicker than the normal one. Often people get confused because in 1973 the 50p's were all larger than the current ones....but not piedfort.I've never seen one but I would assume the actual VIP coins were in some kind of case possibly with some kind of paperwork. Ideally anyone sellingone would need to know who it was originally given to. Quote
Terry Posted February 28, 2009 Author Posted February 28, 2009 Yes, possibly 'silver' as well. Never hear of any coming up for sale though!! Quote
Cerbera100 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 One did (fairly) recently sell at Dix Noonan Webb in London... 26th Sept 07, Lot 591. Realised £1000 plus premium against an estimate of £400-£500 (http://www.dnw.co.uk/coins/auctionarchive/searchcataloguearchive/itemdetail.lasso?itemid=86784)Thats the only one I've heard of, and it didnt come with any paperwork. I believe it was cased, but unfortunately was unable to view it as Mr Webb had it on his person, and wasn't at Bolton Street when I was viewing! Quote
