basecamp Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Hi all, I just found two Queen Mary 1553-54 hammered Groats (complete with pomegranate's and VERITAS etc). My problem is that my 2007 edition of Spinks simply lists a Half Groat (2493) as 'similar' - question is how can I distinguish a groat from a half groat? Quote
HistoricCoinage Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 If your unclipped coin is considerably less than 2.3 cm in diameter then you have yourself a halfgroat, I'd guess that yu've found a groat as they're more common.Cheers,Clive. Quote
