Hussulo Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 (edited) I just found out that I have won these. I think I've just made a good buy. I bought these coins for a hammer price of $900 (still have 15% commission and postage to pay on top). The 1879 Sydney Sovereign is listed as £400 EF, £1650 UNC in Chris's Collectors coins GB 2008.The American auction house listed the coins as:4 Gold Coins Australia Newfndld Canada Britain COINS - Lot of 4 gold coins, Australia 1 sovereign Sydney mint 1866, Newfoundland 2 Dollars 1888, Canada 5 Dollars 1912, British Sovereign 1879.British Sovereign 1879??? in actual fact Sydney mint. Hussulo Posted March 6, 2008 Author Posted March 6, 2008 Chris I see that in Collectors coins GB you value the 1879 S Sovereign at quite a high price in UNC. Can I ask why? is it due to some auction results? its just the price in Coin Yearbook (News) for this date in UNC seems to be a lot lower. Quote
Chris Perkins Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Yes it is isn't it. You'd have to ask Allgold of Sevenoaks (Clive) as they do the prices for the gold coins, I just paste 'em in. Quote
