hi

i have 2 x 1820 shillings ,

1 of them i think has a higher 2 just like the 1818 shilling but i can not find it any ref book ,

any ideas or have i just gor the wrong ref books post-174-1196164556_thumb.jpg

The higher digits aren't significant varieties although Davies listed the 8 higher in date for 1818 which is probably why it is listed in Spink. In this case the 8 is considerably more misaligned than yours being about a 1/4 to a 1/3 of a character higher. The 2 on the left coin looks bigger(?) in the picture.

The right hand 1818 is a higher 8. Davies 85 if you want to know the variety number. There is an example illustrated in the DNW archive, lot 330 7/10/2003.
