william Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 HiI have a 1910 sixpence, but i don't know what country it's from. I am guessing somewhere down under cos of the kangaroo, but don't know for sure. Also, how many were made, and when was it that Australia changed to dollars? I don't need a value, it'll be worth fairly little. Picture attached! Thanks Quote
Chris Perkins Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 That's Australian, They went Decimal in 1966 as far as I can make out.The 1910 Sixpence is one of 3,046,000 and worth about £3.00 if it was fine. It is sterling silver. Quote

It is sterling silver....and that was the first year they made dedicated Australian coins, and of course the only year with king Edward VII. Before then I think they used a mixture of English coins and their own tokens when there were shortages. Similar situaiton in New Zealand. The tokens are all very collectable. Quote
william Posted April 16, 2004 Author Posted April 16, 2004 Once again, thanks for helping me out Quote
