Guest Hremm Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 I was just wondering if anyone here could help me out, even though this is a predecimal forum..I dont coin collect in the regular sense, i dont go out looking and buying certain coins.. instead i collect the rare coins that are in circulation and are legel tender by simple act of fate... in other words whatever i get in my change when i buy stuff...So far my £2 coin collection isnt going that bad, heres a list of what ive managed to collect so far (base coins of course - as people dont tend to spend £2 gold coins that cost close to £300 for some reason )http://www.taxfreegold.co.uk/1996twopoundw...upfootball.htmlhttp://www.taxfreegold.co.uk/1999twopoundsrugbyworldcup.htmlhttp://www.taxfreegold.co.uk/2001twopoundsmarconigold.htmlhttp://www.taxfreegold.co.uk/2004twopounds...enginegold.htmlhttp://www.taxfreegold.co.uk/2005twopoundsgoldguyfawkes.htmlhttp://www.taxfreegold.co.uk/2005twopounds...saintpauls.htmlhttp://www.taxfreegold.co.uk/2006twopoundsbrunel.htmlBut looking at collector sites where you can simply buy the coins, they often come with information presentation folders with them explaining the history and meanings of the coins and the pictures on them. And i was wondering if anyone knows where i could just get the folders to which i could put my collected coins?Would be grateful for any information anyone could give me.Hremm Quote

In reality, it would be foolish for someone to open up the packaging and sell/spend the coin, as the price for the whole package is really high compared to the face value of the coin. The RM markets these as pure profit. Why sell a coin to be used in circulation for a mere £2, when we can spend an extra 60p, make a fancy little folder with information, and sell it for £9.95. Can you say "cha-ching!!" Quote
Guest Hremm Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Thanks...??Now if you would like to help me with something i dont know.. as in is it possible to buy just the folders that would be much more helpful.. thanks! Quote
Chris Perkins Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 You can't just buy the folders!Unless on the rare occassion that a coin got damaged inside and someone put the folder on ebay, but the chance of that is very slim. In a life time your probably would collect about 3 folders that way! You could try going to the mint direct, but I suspect the older packs get pulped when their issue has sold out. Quote
Rob Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 You've got no chance of getting any folders from the mint. If you put a coin in dire condition inside and try to sell it as the original article, it will be the mint that looks bad, not Mr. Anonymous. Would you risk your reputation doing something like this? Chris Perkins Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Very true...And are there some pictures somewhere that would not involve me linking to Mr Chard? Quote
