Guest mrs gallop Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 could you tell me if they are worth anything Quote
Chris Perkins Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 Mrs Gallop,Thankyou for your wonderfully detailed description of the number and types of coins included in your sets. Shall I assume they are British and not colonial, and shall I assume they are the complete type sets for those years, not Maundy sets, or any of the other infinate number of different sets that you could be referring to?! I also get the impression that you don't really care about exactly what they are, and all you see when you look at them are possible floating Pound signs before your eyes, hence your direct and not very well thought out question. If that is the case, my valuation fee is 20p per coin, with a £2.00 minimum and I'll need some further details.-------------------------------------------------If that isn't the case and you want to try again and get the benefit of the forums knowledge base for free, perhaps you could ask again, supply all the relevant details and bearing in mind we take this quite seriously, perhaps try to come accross like you give a shit, that sometimes helps when requesting free information!! 1 Quote
Chris Perkins Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 Was that a little harsh do you think? Quote
Guest upset Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 thank-you for your very rude reply but correct I was only thinking of the pound signs(not I am just a novice and have been handed down a case of coins from my grandfather who is now dead but do not know where to go for expert advise on valuation and do not wish to be ripped off by anyone who sees me comming a mile off as an ammeteur, I would be grateful if you could point me to a proffessional, who could help value my coins locally I live in dorset . Thank-you Quote
Chris Perkins Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 You're welcome.Do you have a list of these coins as a computer file that you can email me? That would be the next step. If not, can you create one containing as much detail as possible, with the rough conditions of each coin (poor - excellent, for example)?I can certainly glance at it and give you an opinion, but to attempt to individually value each one, I would charge my small fee. You see I get a lot of people with long lists contacting me, and most of the time the coins are rubbish and not at all exciting for me to look at.What kinds of boxes are the Elizabeth II coin sets in?We are all very helpful here, and doesn't it sound so much nicer with the background information. Emperor Oli Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 I also get the impression that you don't really care about exactly what they are, and all you see when you look at them are possible floating Pound signs before your eyes, hence your direct and not very well thought out question.Mrs. Gallop a.k.a upset, let me try to explain. The reason Chris replied so harshly to your post is because many people come here and post a query, never to follow it up; the vast majority never return. This wastes Chris' and all the other members' time replying to them when nobody comes back to see the results. Quote
Guest mrs gallop Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 Thank-you for your promp reply,as there are so many coins to list I have decided to take them to a reputable company to tell me of the value and some of the history associated with them, thank you for your time. Quote
Chris Perkins Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 Well if you do find one more reputable than Predecimal.com they will probably charge you an arm and a leg to even breathe anywhere near your list! If not, they may make up for their time by offering you very little for them, in the hope they can get them cheap. Are you anywhere near Swanage? I must visit Mother soon, and could kill 2 birds with one stone (so to speak).Regardless, very good luck. Quote
