Thanks Millimoo, I founed another image of it, & looks exactly the same. I found it on a Roman villa site in Dorset, it seems a very early coin for the area!! Did they reuse denarii? Could this coin have been used long after Domitian was dead?

As for cleaning is there anyone I can send it to that can clean it as this & a Richard II/ Edward III farthing are my prize detector finds at the moment & want to do whatever to preserve it from being ruined.

Cheers

Chris

Hi Chris,

Yes, the coins circulated for a long time, especially the early ones with a high silver content.

Sorry, I don't know of any professional coin cleaners, but I'm sure they are out there.

Well, that's much easier to see - and a very nice coin Chris - congratulations!

Out of interest, did you locate a specialist coin cleaner in the end or did you 'diy'?

I DIY'd it, with a fibreglass cleaning pen & lemon juice!!!

Pretty coin. Congratulations. It is a Denary minted in the year 87 AD. with Palas in the reverse. RIC 102-C.

If you are interested in Roman coins have a look at my page: http://www.grifomultimedia.it/adg/monrom/Index.htm

Thanks, you are welcome to use the image on your site if you want, as you don't have a denarius of Domitian.

I have a higher resolution image as well.

In the page I only inclue my coins but if you agree I would like to copy your coin for my files. You have done a great job in cleaning the piece.

Yeah, you can use the images, I may have over cleaned but I dont mind & it's not particularily valuable, & I prefer them nice & shiny.
