Chris Perkins Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 The last one is Ottoman Empire (more than likely Turkey or Egypt). The others are possibly from the Indian state. I have no resource for those.Where your granddad was from, or had been may provide a clue. Quote
Geordie582 Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 For identification of Indian coins I can reccomend this site. An Indian doctor who's study6 of the States coinage is tremendous. He can be e-mailed, but as a practicing doctor, he may take a few weeks to reply. I have found him very helpful. Indian Coinage site Quote

When he passed on this coins to me ( along with a big album about ancient history made up of old news paper cuttings from 1820 onwards ) he said that this coins were givin to him by his father who collected it over time. Geordie582Thanks for the contact information. I will surely email the contact you provide and will try to get some information about the coinsWhat do you guys think will be the value for this coins. Geordie582 Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 It's hard to give a value on Indian coins as they were still hammering coins into the late 19th century, so they all look old! The last one I tried to get valued, I'd put at 13-14th century, turned out to be common and minted 1890! Quote
