Is this for real?

Is this a BRM product, or some privately made packaging?

What kind of value should it have??

I think - or rather, hope - that it's privately issued.

Now that I am on the Royal Mint's e-mail newsletter, I must regretfully inform that this is most likely an official RM product, as there is now a new 2005 Christmas issue.

I am actually considering getting these, as I am a sucker. The RCM (Canadian Mint) has a similar offering, but instead of a colourized medallion, the Canadian set has a special, "limited edition" colourized quarter (25c). About half the price of the UK counterparts.
