I recently purchased the above from the USA and the coin alignment is up/up instead of up/down. The weight is also slightly off at 5.4 grams instead of 5.6 grams. Under magnification however I cannot see any difference between this coin and others in my collection. The coin is not particularly valuable and if it is a good fake why make such a basic error as to get the alignment wrong. Any help or comments would be appreciated.P1050773.thumb.JPG.8feebb90d0673c2359aae13a59a17d4c.JPG

This is yet another of the many, many modern Chinese pressure cast white metal copies available on Alibaba and similar sites that we have been banging on about for a few years now. As well as alignment, the date digits are the wrong font (especially the zero in this case). Virtually all dates of shillings have been copied and they are increasingly seen on ebay and the like and dupe many collectors, novice and more experienced alike. Caveat emptor !!

Duplicate reply to the other post with the picture of the reverse. The obverse here displays the customary porosity and granularity to the surface caused by the pressure casting.
