Jon Hill Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 Hi,I was wondering, are copper coins with an even, dark green patina desirable to collectors or not?Regards,Jon Quote
Peter Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 I would say not.The verdigris will spread and destroy the whole copper collection.Keeping the coins in a damp loft etc will encourage verdigris. Quote
mint_mark Posted June 11, 2005 Posted June 11, 2005 Patina and verdigris aren't the same though... I have seen lots of Roman coins for sale with stable green patinas. Doesn't seem to be as acceptable on more modern coins though Quote
