Guest Horus1410 Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 Can anyone help with idenifying a coin with an unusual Mint/Initial Mark. The mark is a pierced mullet (5 pointed star with piercing centre. ) The available legend reads 'EDWA' with the rest missing. The last letter, before the mark, is an 'S'. The coin has had some clipping but appears to be a 1d coin. There is no legend available to read on the back but it is a long cross patee with three pellets in each of the available angles. Sylvester Posted May 20, 2005 Posted May 20, 2005 Is there any way you could post a picture of the coin on here, if so it would be a great help. Quote
Geordie582 Posted May 22, 2005 Posted May 22, 2005 I think it's probably Edward VI penny. I can't see any use of that mint mark by other Edwards! Quote
Geordie582 Posted May 22, 2005 Posted May 22, 2005 Yes! but not the pierced mullet as far as I can find! Quote
Sylvester Posted May 23, 2005 Posted May 23, 2005 I'll confess i haven't looked, i was going to wait for the picture. It makes life alot easier, cos you can often tell straight away. Quote
