mitch91 Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 I was quite sad when I heard this as I have seen his wifes grave and I also saw him on his balcony last year on my holidays. Good luck to his son. Quote
Emperor Oli Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 Rainier changed the constitution so that if he had no heir, the principality would not become French territory. I think this was one of his greatest achievments, thereby ensuring the continuation of Grimaldi rule. Well, we'll just see how Albert fares - his Father said he lacked "the necessary toughness" to rule.Anyway, RIP Rainier. Quote
mint_mark Posted April 6, 2005 Posted April 6, 2005 I read about that... he changed it so that succession could pass along the female line in case his son remained childless... then I read about his daughters and their string of questionable romances, children born out of wedlock etc etc... makes our royal family look well behaved!Anyway, I think Ranier looks really dashing on his coins from the 1950s with his slicked back hair Quote
mitch91 Posted April 7, 2005 Author Posted April 7, 2005 R.I.P Prince Rainier. Long Live the prince Quote
