British Veiled Head Sovereign Obverse Varieties

Two obverse dies were used for Veiled Head sovereigns.

One has 148 denticles and the other 153.

However I cant seem to find any references to this.

Any info regarding this issue would be much appreciated.

I am aware of the variety (probably from the same Australian coin forum you saw this) - I don't think the old obverse was used beyond 1898 but I don't know.
