George IV Coin

Hi,

Another coin to ID its copper but may be a forgery it looks like it should be silver.

The Obv Bare headed George IV, legend reads GEORGE IV THE ENLIGHTENED FATHER OF THE PEOPLE

The Rev an angel and brittania? either side of a plinth with an urn and crown on top, the legend reads BORN AUGUST 12 1762 CROWNED JULY 19 1821.

Oh sorry,

Its about 25mm across dosen't seem to be the same size as any other UK George IV coins in my Spink book.

First off, it's not a coin, it's a medal commemorating George IV's coronation. It is an unofficial one, probably contemporary. It's not a counterfeit, another company just struck them (much like we have unofficial Royal memorabilia today). The real deal in silver is shown below.

Ahh, thats why its not in my Spink's guide then, interesting all the same.
