I remember this coin used to fetch £28-£38 on ebay. why has the price skyrocketed recently? purely bidding frenzy or have i missed out on something?

really? as far as i know there are two silver proof versions.

the 'original' one is dated 1999 on the obverse without the gold spray on the british isles and comes in a small blue presentation box with a small CoA.

the other one is dated 2000 on the obverse and has the british isles selectively plated with gold. this one comes in a larger presentation case with a CoA and information booklet.
