Rob Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 Anybody with examples of Oxford 1643 or 1644 coins, any denominations, which have larger central plumes than the two either side above the declaration - pictures please. i.e halfcrowns with 1643 obverses H to L and reverses 22 to 29. Any 1644 halfcrowns with obverses A through to I and reverses 3 to 18, 21, 23, 25, 27-30, 32, 8a, 17a, 27a, 28a. That's 15 obverses and 35 reverses to aim for, so plenty of scope to help. I would also like any images of reverse 26, the one where the large plume has been rubbed down and a small one substituted in its place, this paired with a C1 obverse. Smaller denominations dated 1644 with three lis, the centre one being slightly larger would also be of use. A few dies only here. Obviously there are sites such as Lloyd Bennett with a large number of images, but I am looking for any that aren't imaged on his site, or that are much bigger even if pictured there. An example of the reverse design I am looking for is attached. Thanks in advance. 1 Quote
Rob Posted September 26, 2017 Author Posted September 26, 2017 In terms of the smaller denominations, the three plumes can be replaced by all lis or a plume and two lis as below. Quote
Rob Posted October 13, 2017 Author Posted October 13, 2017 (edited) Desperate need for a high resolution image of a York 1D halfcrown please, should anyone have one. The picture I'm stuck with at the moment is that in Besly's 1984 BNJ article (see below) which is worse than useless. The BM's isn't imaged on line and nor is the Hunterian's. I'm basically hoping that someone has the Brooker coin, otherwise it will be a case of trying to persuade the Yorkshire Museum to give me a picture or allow me to take one as I sure aint going to pay the BM £50 a side at the last count for pictures. Please, anybody, even if you have the grotty one in Glens 13th March 1974 lot 316. Edited October 13, 2017 by Rob Quote
