Thanks very much! I am going to look further into it so I can familiarize myself a little I enjoy collecting the 1859 Victorian large cents of Canada and Haxby has it down to a beautiful science that you can use the location, shape etc. of the die cracks to identify to die. Hi all -- this penny is well circulated with some scratches but I would like to identify the variety if possible. I thought it would be easy to locate based on the die crack in the reverse date. But it appears that die cracks are not that well documented on these b/c I have not had any luck finding it. There does appear to be an L.C. WYON signature on the shoulder and an L.C.W. under the shield. Many thanks!

I'm going to answer my own question! Before I posted this I had sent an email to an expert but the email bounced back to me and I thought it didn't go through to him but it obviously did since he just replied: You have a Cork farthing Dickinson No. 203, issued c. 1656. They come in 2 sizes. Relatively common.

This token is struck off center so I can't make out the entire legend. I think it says "FARTHING" on both sides...? It seems like it may match the description of a Cork Farthing token but I have not been able to confirm with any photos with an online search - the ones I have found look different. I think there are varieties though so maybe that would explain it? It is sized about 18mm & 2.0g. Thanks for any help

Why thank you! I am very fond of that one. I mainly collect the George II and III contemporary counterfeit 1/2Ds but that farthing was a keeper as soon as I saw it

I just started looking more closely at some of the early Victorian bronze pennies - just looking for anything different. I noticed a few unusual lines mostly above the 6 in the date on this one. Hello This farthing just seems different to me - but it could be normal - I don't have the experience to know for certain. It measures 23mm - and the rims seem a bit wider than I have seen so that might explain why. Weighs about 4.7g. The tops of the ones in the date are odd but again... maybe that is normal. Thanks for any input.

Hi everyone I recently posted this coin in the CoinTalk website forums but haven't had much response yet so I thought I would give it a try here. This coin is very lightweight - about 3.8g. and as you can see in the photos it is very thin and looks to have the rim missing. Is it an error or somehow created through imaginative post-minting work? Thank you!
