    Wanted -1953 farthing dies 2+A

I doubt that there are bags of 1953 farthings 2+a out there , but what there could be is a bags where 10% or more of the coins are 2+A , that is more likely
  2. Looks like it might have had a nasty experience in a vice?

    Wanted -1953 farthing dies 2+A

I think either peck or farthing specialist found the variety you would have to look back and find some early info - john's early catalogs might give it , my best bet would be that the variety was discovered in 1970

    Wanted -1953 farthing dies 2+A

I really am sure there are quite a few of these coins to be found right now if you are in the know. I bet many a in the know farthing collector has picked one of these out of a rumage box for say 50p or so , i am sure if all the existing coins were gone through a lot would come on the market and the price would come down. I am also sure this will not happen overnight so it will be a gradual process with the coin becoming slightly more common every year. Only if the number of collectors increases rapidly will the coins rise in value. Colin is at least trying to do that for us i surpose. I would guess most around are in gvf + grade due to the short time they circulated. Most that were minted are still in existance now i would think , well prob 60% anyway

    Hello and first question.

The aluminium coin boxes are on ebay for around £20 as long as you don't mind paying a little over the odds . If you live in Newcastle i would imagine coin fairs are out of the question. Don't forget the local flea markets of antique fairs a dealer there might be very useful. Remember to COLLECT WHAT YOU WANT and never let anyone try and tell you what that is , you might prefer french or Spanish coins to English , they have some lovely designs esp the french.

    Hello and first question.

You have the perfect start into coin collecting in my view . Try and find a local dealer who goes to antique or collectors fairs , or otherwise rummage round in a few 50p or pound boxes and see what you really like - don't spend a lot remember you are testing the water. Once you have found what you really like just keep on upgradeing start with the common stuff - get rid of yoiur spares on ebay - remember money spent on coins is rarely totally wasted you get some back when you cash them in (sell them). Get one of the superb aluminium coin boxes fro lidl they are great for less than a tenner - they often appear just before xmas

Just like basil faulty in "The psychiatrist " did anyone look at this and get the wrong idea?

    1933 Penny

Stinks to high heaven as a con trick. The coin would not be a lavrillier pattern if it was a stolen one fro a church - all the pattern coins have good provinances . Someone somewhere has prob done in £1500 in on a poor copy
  9. The queen really has a boil - if you believe that go to jail directly to jail do not pass go, do not collect £200 . Please note your jail term will last until you cannot see the boil anymore , if after three weeks of questioning you can still see the boil move directly to the tower of London and await your sentence which will be the first person since 1746 to be hung drawn and quartered. Good luck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S HM Goverment reserves the right to release your death on you tube / dvd for a fee of course and your final selfless act will be used to reduce the national debt (Hopefully to zero)
  10. I wonder if the people buying the kings shilling (freebie from the mail) for £5 off ebay know that for less than half that you can get a silver coin that genuinely could have been a kings shilling . Really surprises me every time , why there are so many suckers out there?

    Roman Starters!

i would be surprised to find gold or silver with large discrepances in their weights . bronze or billion would be a different matter
  12. close to the original - and yes they are selling on ebay right now
  13. I will prob give it to my nephew along with a genuine one he will like that
  14. The lion on the crown etc
  15. well i did get one - i must admit it is not really that awful , while the coin itself is actually a white metal (full marks for that!) the packing is super - just a shame a few details are wrong - no reeded edge to the coin but there again they have to be sure you can tell it from an original coin
  16. i really have a good mind to get one of these free on saturday - just so i can laugh at it and how bad it looks
  17. Does the BM stand for BM bargains?
  18. The 1775 farthing for sale on the cambridge coins website for £75 is also an obvious fake - all-beit a contemp one

    Recent aquisitions

NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Amongst our weaponry are such diverse elements as: fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency, an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope, and nice red uniforms - Oh damn!

    Recent aquisitions

Our chief weapons are surprise , surprise is our chief weapon. Nobody expects the spanish inqustion

    Recent aquisitions

But nobody expects "The Spanish inquisition"!
  23. What did they call july before Julius caesar was born? Surely the romans did not walk around with several unnamed months before they were named properly - this would create lots of problems at work trying to get through to your employer what time you want off , though not as much bother for slaves as you could just refuse them any time off (great to be the boss ain't it ! ) LOL
  24. Ok hodgeson did not on purpose set out to lose the world cup but in the end the buck has to stop with someone and someone has to go too make way for someone better (hopefully?) lol
  25. Anyone think hodgeson should go? Sorry i think he should , in the end he is taking a wage 12 x more than he deserves
