Danelaw replied to Madness's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
Like many of his novels, Charles Dickens’ A Tale Of Two Cities was actually first serialised in two local newspapers. It was the Bicester Times, it was the Worcester Times. -

A politician visited a remote little rural village and asked the inhabitants what the government could do for them. “We have two big needs,” said the village headman. “First, we have a hospital but no doctor." The politician whipped out his mobile, spoke for a while and then said: “I have sorted it out. A doctor will arrive here tomorrow. What is your other need?” “We have no mobile reception at all in our village.” -

My mate keeps saying "Cheer up, it could be worse, you could be stuck underground in a hole full of water!" He means well. -
Yes indeed it is a cloak. I always presumed it was a pin/brooch type fastener. The streamers coming down the back of the neck were held by a fillet that went around the head. by the way Lara Maikem a Thames mudlark has a book out at the moment. Radio 4 and the Sunday Times have had it as the book of the month.

There's just one odd thing and he just has to ask. "So Mr. Pirate, your look is pretty cool. I gotta ask though, what's with the chocolate wrapper on your hat?" The pirate replied, "Arrrrgh, I've a Bounty on me head! -

Funny though. I started to look at the Swedish takeover of Latvia and the locals quite enjoyed what the Swedes brought to them. So much so they have a current 10,000 signature protest going on asking them to invade again.😃 Not so sure about some of the signer's. Barack Obama has put his weight behind them!

I can certainly see your point Peter. The rarity and the crudity of the coin makes it appealing to me. I don't like it nearly £60,000 though.

	£57,600. That's special.

I just had thought, how much would it cost to have a fair(ish) coin of every Monarch since 1066, to say...up to William and Mary? Any figures available out there?
