  12. Found this the other day, had a couple of his pennies but not a halfpenny, are they rarer? And can you tell me what mint is it , its approx 15mm in diameter. Thanks in advance Richard.
  13. Anyone else out there who might have an opinion on this coin? Heres a of picture of it. I think the B is lower
  14. There are no mention in Freeman or Goulby about 1863 obverse varieties. I would be more inclined to say that the R is rotated rather than the B lower although I'm no expert on vicky pennies. I find your microscope much more interesting, what is it? Hi Gary, Yes its a great bit of kit, If you google brunel microscopes and go onto their web site under stereomicroscopes there are several to choose from . Mine is the DM2 and costs about £62 plus vat and postage. I was able to photograph thro' the lense with a normal digital camera to get picture of the penny, but there are proper attachments you can buy.Take a look.
  15. I was playing with my new toy i had for xmas,a low powered microscope and came across this penny that i had recently dug up and noticed the B of Brittania slightly lower than the other letters, as can be seen in the picture. Is this unusual or fairly common occurance , thanks in advance, Richard.
  16. Thanks guys , first chance to reply since a busy xmas and new year. Hope yours was as good as mine. Managed to get out detecting the other day, didnt find much in the way of anything too old but did find two vicky pennys in the same hole one a 1860 and the other 1861, condition none too good thou, difficult to see if they are rarities , confused with obverse and reverse types. Is there an easy way?
  17. Hi to everyone, came across your forum today and decided to join, always interested to see other peoples coins. I metal detect so all my coins are out of the ground, but have had some good conditioned ones from time to time, like this milled lizzie sixpence .
