Nice wee note. Do we have any Dutch Nationals on the board? When I lived in Limburg I tried to collect all sorts of old notes/coins..aiming for some really old ones surrounding the change of borders and gov'ts etc. Never really spent enough time tho.
If you want I can get the 2 issues of any State coin pretty easily (as and when they are released)..I am back and forth there quite reguarly, and my In Laws are all there.
Tho.. as I have discovered myself, it takes a bit of experience to be able to judge what qualities of a coin increase/decrease value... it is great fun trying tho
Give them to a kid and tell him/her the history, show them a pic of what it should look like, and also a few other coins of the age... would be a great starter present.
It is bound to have happened loads of times..but it has to remembered, back in those days, the working class were more often than not paid for service by being fed, watered and housed.
The best we have to offer in Belfast, is the Ulster Museum. It has quite a lot of old coins from sunken ships etc, as well as those from 15-1600's to the modern day.
