Selling a half sovereign in a gold signet ring on ebay at the moment, going very well for my mum.

That, I'd be willing to take. Looks like the pennies may be a job lot, collection only on *whispers* ebay then. I will check the 1911 pennies though, thanks for that heads up.

Some other coins I have are an 1844 Half Farthing. Fourpences from the following years 1836 1838 1846 and 1849. Sixpences from the following years, 1816 1887 1911 and 1914. The 1816 one has a hole drilled in it at the top, like it was used as a necklace?

I am unable to post pictures up, as it says file too big, so have messaged pwa1967 for his offer of help in getting some pics up.

Having had another look through, I'm afraid my eyes and typing skills are not as good as I thought There isn't a 1932 Florin, assume that was a typo on my part, and the 1944 threepence is in fact 1914, sorry. I will endeavour to get photos of the 1909 and 1887 half crowns though.

I would say they are middle grade, some are more worn than others, but for the age they are, I think they are in a good condition, I will get around to a photo or two, I'm away this weekend, but will give it a go and see if it works. Any particular years you'd like to see a picture of, or I'll just pick the best ones to show?

So I thought I'd start my own thread rather than hijacking other peoples. I have some coins that were my dads, mainly a massive amount of old pennies which date from 1860-1949, I'm still sorting and weighing them out, I'm at 5kg weight so far. They are not in a bad condition, but also obviously not uncirculated either, as they have been stored in a cigar tin, and money box. Anyway, I'd just like to try and get a bit of money for them even if only scrap value to pass to my mum. So if anyone is interested in a particular year, let me know and I'll see what I've got, if anyone is localish to Yorkshire and would like to take them off my hands for a small fee, message me. I then also have what is left of my own coin collection which I started in my student days in the early 90s, and thought it was a good time to break this up, and sell it on as well. I have some pre 1947 silver as well as pre 1920, and it's generally in a good condition, I also have some post 1947 stuff, shillings, half crowns etc that I'd like to exchange at the bank, but sadly my bank wont accept them, so they may go to cash4coins. I'm just looking at some way to make a little money for myself and my mum basically. Anyway, I've just sorted the Threepence section and have the following years. 1875 1890 1892 1897 1898 1902 1916 1919 1920 1922 1925 1932 1933 1934 x 2 1935 1936 1937 1938 1939 1940 1941 1944. The shillings I have are 1945 x 3 (diff designs) 1946 x 4 (diff designs) Florins/Two shillings from 1910 1920 1921 1922 1923 1928 1929 1932 1933 1935 x2 1936 1942 x 2 1943 1944 1945 1946 Half crowns from 1946 1945 1944 1943 1940 1938 1931 1923 1921 1909 1887 And I still have the halfpennies and farthings to go through. I just wanted somewhere to write them all down, then I can decide what to do with them.

Had a quick look at my first list, before I started hiding some of them in my local town, and I have 1860-1949, but I still have a moneybox full to double check and list. I've weighed the two lots I've sorted so far, and I'm at 5kg so far, think it will end up around 9kg. If I could get some money for scrapping them, then I would do that, but I don't know where scraps them?

Yeah, I'm still sorting them, there are some Victorian ones, but on the whole, I think my dad sold most of those, and I got rid of most from the 60s, so date range is probably 1880-1950, with the bulk around 1910-1940. As for photos of some, I will attempt at some point on my phone, but I'm not the most technically gifted person I was hoping with big forums like these, that there may be fellow posters from Yorkshire that are interested and that way they could be passed on for a small fee, and then not a problem with postage and such like. I am also in the process of weighing them, to see what total weight I have left.

A dealer offered me £200 for them, and obviously I had to pay to send them registered delivery to her, so I'd have been out of pocket there. I don't think the ebay fees were that high actually, helped selling 3 of them to one buyer as well. I'd use a local dealer if they offered a fair price and replied to emails sent to them. I did actually send that dealer a white fiver as she offered a good price. At the end of the day, I'm looking out for what is the best price for my mum, and the easiest option. If that's ebay, fair enough, if it's York, well I've got to make a special delivery, do park and ride etc. so there's all extra costs there as well.

I will list them all on here at some point, I have separated the coins with H to the left of the date though, sadly I think there's only around 5 of them, so may list them on ebay separately as a job lot. My dad bought and sold coins through ebay, these pennies are in an old money box and cigar tin, and felt lined box, there are so many, not sure why he never got around to selling them. Maybe not much interest, as they are mostly very common. On the subject of the programme, I do quite enjoy it, even with Portillo presenting it.

Thanks for the suggestion, but sadly I'm away in Mansfield this weekend, I'm not sure I'd make my petrol money back would I for 5kg of pennies?
