    I will pay YOU

Pete, been looking for you since you first mentioned it.
  2. I have an other lot of those 1820 sovereigns , but i may hold on to them for abitDealer paid a very good price for them , received some good advise from a few on here , but when it comes to selling i think il look into properly as i did with 3 i sold , good job i didnt jump straight in and sell to those who made offers , id have been a good 400 light In some respects your statement is not fair, as we all had some poor pictures to work from, some which were just taken from the net! £400 over three coins is not a lot, especially if the person you sold them to had the privilege of seeing them in hand? This is the old problem of trying to make a financial judgement on images alone! You have to cover yourself by a small margin to allow for the details you can't see in an image, that could easily drag the resale value down by £600...what would you do if you were speculating on a grainy picture of a replacement car, which was due an MOT? Glad you got a result though! Prices are a strange thing - I have never and will never offer a top price on poor images i'd be a fool to do that. The team attempted to get you to provide decent pictures which were not forthcoming.Had you provided decent pictures you may even have secured better prices than you've realised. I have never met such a fine team of experts as i have on this site, and for all the assistance they have provided me I was taken aback by your statement.
  3. a very generous offer -the most i'd offer is £480 - 1820 and £500 matt proof sov & half
  4. If you intend extending the collection and becoming a collector the carzy people in here have a wealth of knowledge that they give freely. The only place i know where you get something for nothing. Be careful though some of them bite. The need to be honest about what info your looking for is essential or the responses will dwindle.
  5. If you intend selling any depending on price I may be interested. So how where you going to get ripped off ?
  6. Hi all, What scale and calipers do you recommend ?

I guess 'eye appeal' is everything nowadays ...

What an interesting topic. I am one of the more recent collectors focusing mainly on coins post 1837. This is my interest as a collector and is equal to any other period. My outlook is that we each have a desire to build a collection and for me the period is irrelavant as we build our collections based on many factors. these include: Finances Period of interest Investment value and many other factors. I for one started by collecting anything and everything. I eventually fell in love with "Bun Head" pennies. In my attempt to complete the set , i attempted to collect each year ( a very basic collection) as that grew i then started looking at collecting the variety's. I have not completed either challenge i set myself (still looking for an UNC 1869 - as well as others) However i have no intention of being a date filler, i want quality over quantity. The point im making is that as collectors we each have different perspectives, desires, preferences etc . What we have in common is the desire to hold a piece of history in the form of these beauties.

Beginner Trying to Spot a Fake...

Hi & Welcome greenmeme, Great site youve joined. Your coin does not appear to be a fake and I agree with the others 1/2 Sovereign. Would be to your advantage to post some pics of your late fathers coins. There are just so many experts on this site, that are always willing to give proffessional advice on grading, varieties values etc. They have all been very helpful to me. best regards
