    Unidentified Roman Bronze

looks like a barbaric? reproduction of a constans or constantanious II AE follis, can see the start of the legend "DN CON....""
  4. Ahh I see what you mean sorry got a bit lost, yea i agree 100% with you there.
  5. my interpretation of it is: if only 1 side frosted=CAM if both sides frosted+contrast=DCAM Both of these imply frosting on either side, this way just breaks it down as to whether one or both sides are frosted, i think the CAM designation is more important for coins that were produced before the 60's?
  6. " CAM and DCAM refer specifically to the degree of contrast between the frosted design and the reflectivity of the proof fields. Proof coins that have both reverse and obverse designs that are highly frosted and contrast strongly with highly reflective fields are described as DCAM. Where the proof fields are highly reflective but the design is not frosted or frosted on only one side of the coin, PCGS assigns a CAM designation to the coin "
  7. what puts me off a bit was that "tyrants" collection that has appeared. I remember watching a few of those coins in sales in the last few years and cant help but feel that sort of collections like this as well as less visible stanley gibbon types are over inflating the prices of these and ending up getting stung i the end.
  8. Looking through the pattern gold book earlier to find the coin in question, i do agree i would snap up 95% of these if i could afford them prioritising things I would love one of the 1920's gold strikes if i could ever muster up enough
  9. damn, someone didn't look after that on. Depending on what the OBV looks like im gonna go for PF61ish. If this came up in an auction I don't think i would have opened it in another tab its so bad
  10. Sorry, should have added, the above image was from "English pattern trial and proof coins in gold" by Alex Wilson and Mark Rasmussen. So correct the above would be the gold version
  11. but on the same regard, i don't want to oversee the coin, don't blast it white on photoshop

    Shipwreck Catalogues

Hi guys and gals In the past you have been amazing with helping giving information and providing resources A while ago i bought a coin from H.M.S Association and i have been trying for a while now to see what else was in the wreck that was salvaged, if any other good coins existed What i am looking for this time is information on shipwreck salvages, British ones in particular for the moment, basically how do you go about finding what was recovered? Also there wouldnt be anyone by chance that has access to either of these 2 catalogues or know how to get them in libraries/Fitzwilliam? Sotheby 1969 Sotheby 1970 thanks in advance for all the help you will be giving
