'So...' at the beginning of a statement. 'Enquiry' as opposed to 'inquiry'.... -

'awesome ' is irritating to us because of the the extent and accent. We probably use 'awful' just as much, but we don't notice, but to others, our extent and accent probably grate. I rather feel the two cancel each other out. "15 items or less" in a supermarket here. "15 items or fewer" in California. One is correct...... Very unique. Oh- not forgetting the House of Commons 'We must insure this happens' etc etc.... language evolves, and there's nothing you can do about it. To find out how much, play scrabble with a 90 year old and wait for the complaints about the 'words' you play..... -
They will always do things like this whilst funded by people who 'believe' in their 'usefulness'.... .....one born every minute.

My wife sold 20 coin lots last week, which totalled £315. Out of this we got £181....... That's a 47% fee, or is my maths wrong?

In the 70's I helped a vet on farms and he told me to NEVER light a cigarette when in from of a cow.... -
..and why "thanks for the song"? Have I missed something? Maybe that was what happened when I went to get a beer out of the fridge, halfway through this hideous yet strangely compelling movie....

.....or try the magnet slide test....the eddy currents in silver ( the best conductor) oppose the magnet and it will slide down very slowly. You have to be careful with alloys- it all depend on what the additive metal does with stopping electrons moving about. If copper is 100 conductivity as a datum, silver is 105. Aluminium is around 71. Brass is a _big_ surprise- mainly copper, but the zinc binds the electrons, so it's only around 30 at best.... Solder- lucky to get 10.....

Penny Acquisition of the week
blakeyboy replied to Paulus's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Yes- from about 1969 onwards, I saw loads of late Victorian pennies in change, but only ever one 1894. It's one of those strange dates that doesn't follow the rules. -
Yes, but....running microprocessors gulps energy, and that's the problem. Reading a book does not......

I love it when threads wander off into humour. Please Sir, can I have some more?

I can't help thinking about the slope of the '2', and it looks the same on the 'H' ones and the purported 'no H' one discussed above. If you did alter a '3', it would have to already have the same tilt????
-
I looked at a lot of H examples and they all appear to have the H in the middle or slightly to the right. This one seems, I say seems, to have an 'H' type shape slightly left of centre... The weak '2' is unusual as well....
-
Yes, I remember that too- so there is definitely only one pairing for the 'No H' type?
