A while ago, i mentioned about my 1953 farthing that had a toothed border on one side and beaded on the other. Now, checking through my few victorian farthings, i have found that some of them also have this toothed on one side and beaded on the other (eg: 1893 and 1900).

My question; is there a reason as to why they were they minted like that?
