Guest vidlerdidd Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 P.S. Clear variation on this coin is dot missing on colon after GRA, IND & IMP of legend together with part of border missing on mis-strike. Quote
Chris Perkins Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 vidlerdidd,My opinion is that it's not a major mis-strike (it's not that off centre), and the colons on similar aged coins have been known to clog up on the dies in the past, leading to none appearing on the coin.Couple that with the fact that it's low grade I would expect it would be worth not more than a couple of pounds...To the right person. custard1966 Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 I'd go along with Chris. It does seem to be the case that die flaws are much less collectable than altered dies (overdates) etc. Quote
Master Jmd Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 is it me, or has the picture gotten brighter?...anyway, it is now clear that remanents of dots from the colons can be seen faintly Quote
Chris Perkins Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 That picture is better, and exactly what part of the border is missing??The colons have been blocked in the die, but are clearly there. In short, it's nothing special. Quote
